With 7.817 voters going to the polls Tuesday in DupUn County, the newcomers provided stiff competition for the incunfoents in the county races. Douglas A. Clark of Kenans ville scored an apparent upset over incumbent State Repre sentative T. J. Baker of Wallace. Clark polled 4,487 votes to Baker's 2,932 for the Incumbent Democrat Russell Brock came in fourth in a field of six candidates for two seats on the Democratic ticket for the ? it. . . . ."w . _ Board of Education. Patricia Broadrick led all the candidates with 3.24# votes for a firm spot on the ticket. Riddick E. Wilkins took 2.533 votes to 2,526 for incumbent James F. Strickland, which coaid result in a run-off for the second spot. Black voters in the county apparently cast selective ballots, giving major support to Wilkins. Other can- ] d idates were: OomM BeHr?2; ~ incumbent Russell Brock. 1.347; and Jack Williams. 1,142. In the Second District County Commissioner nee. Calvin C, Turner.
